Over the next three years, through the National Skills Agreement, the Government of South Australia is investing in strengthening the adult community education (ACE) workforce and reinforcing the role of ACE at the heart of building foundation skills in our community.
Skills SA undertook consultations with ACE providers, to help shape workforce development approaches that are practical, meaningful and responsive to real needs. The consultations tested an initial proposal focused on professional development, scholarships and educator pathways. Educators and providers shared valuable insights about workforce challenges, professional development opportunities and the supports required to better meet learner needs.
The updated approach reflects strong support from the ACE sector for practical, flexible learning, recognition of existing skills and stronger connections across the ACE workforce, while acknowledging the funding and capacity constraints ACE providers face.
Educators will undertake the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment over twelve months. The program will include:

- Opportunity to attend support sessions (online) to discuss learning and network with other participants.
- Graduation event and access to an ACE alumni network.
Training will be fully subsidised.
Up to two educators per provider may apply, with at least 15 scholarships awarded per year through a competitive process.
